And
I shed my snakeskin
In the morning
After passion’s storm,
After Eden,
Before Egypt,
Before Babylon’s watchtowers
Echo with the call
To morning prayer.
And I slither
With crescendoing joy
Like blue iridescense
In heaven’s choral substance
And in Neptune’s iciness.
And I hiss in midnight bliss
‘Neath the starry sea
And then I kiss
Your nectar lips
And taste the golden rain
Caressing over me
Eternally.
