I kept watch
with a whispered prayer's cadence
Thanking God for your peaceful profile's radiance.
Now only three moons have passed and it seems
The smile I love remains in solitary dreams.
When will you open your eyes to see me again?
Your precious love since the evening we met
Inspired a promise I can't forget and my heated breath
And highheld hands recall your divinely formed figure,
Awakening a passion I know I need not fight nor fear.
Because Love's light survives the surrealistic night,
I long to kiss you in the cathedral morning,
To arouse your sighs in the delicious hues of dawn,
Beautiful presence to whom I render Love's most tender hour.
Come play the games of love only my slumberless spirit brings.
I offer a heart aflame with Joy's celestial odes,
Share with me your gracious air so rare.
Come to with me, my chosen lady be,
Madonna of the midnight hours,
The purple night's petals will peel away for you,
Passion's fruit will yield its nectar for you,
Woman of Grace, delighting yet in cloistered dreams.
While moonbeams through lace touched the silky blonde streams
Upon your pillow your fair face I many times kissed.
Are you sleeping, my love? May I wake you now?
I pray in the night for the day- the moment- the hour
When our heartbeats sound as one pounding power,
And to all tribulation we bid adieu
In the blessed morning when I rise with you.
