For Mary, With Love

Sweet lilac Autumn hours I note silently as I recall mellow moments with you.

I love your little girl looks and your silky Eastern moods give me joy.

I remember moon-faced walks and sudden stormy evening drives to the beach.

Dizzy kisses and dreamy delights in endless summer nights

Still make my heart take flight.

For your love I want to conquer the world.

It was long ago in another life I slept alone but then your kiss

And warm laughter made me realize I would miss

Your midnight sighs and morning eyes if ever you were not at my side.

So many miles we’ve traveled now with no good-byes.

So many times before sleep I have hugged you,

Kissed you as you dream, whispering I love you and I do.

Though you say I remember past loves I seek only you.

Now in my airport moments and in the shops alone,

When my eyes brighten at the sight of someone,

Maybe a beauty whom I could or did or do engage,

I seem to forever recall your face,

Gentle voiced Asian Queen of loyal vows,

I speak of your love and in each breath feel you in my heart.

There is such beauty in the feelings you arouse,

That if I could describe our love it would shine like heaven’s Gold,

Behold, its a richer glow than any earthly fable ever told.

You are so much younger than me but if I am blessed

With years to see our little ones grow in His Grace,

I will forever treasure what memories we make today.

I wanted to wish you a happy birthday when I wrote these lines for you,

But as I think of you more the more I know the happiness is mine.

Thank you for the love and peace you seem to within you always carry.

Sweet Mary, you are to our 3 little stars and me every moon in the sky.

They are ever-changing and I beam in delight and glow like an ancient sun.

Yes you rule my sleepless nights yet they are no lesser lights all our days.

Oh feel this moment’s bliss grow for in their eyes is the promise of eternity.
