For My Last Wife
You
are my wife for life,
Faithful
and true as I am to you.
Our
God has joined our lives as one,
As
when His light melds moon and sun,
As
when His hand cubes perfect salt
From
Sodium and Chlorine,
Each
element poisonous alone,
Yet
together a compound essential for
life.
Your
wide eyes shimmer when I softly trace
Your
naked beauty and kiss your face.
Your
arms entwine my heart like the vine
Around
the oak will tenderly embrace
Its
firmness; and the winds of time and fate
Have
not detached it as of late.
Neverever
let our hearts be torn,
Let
not a heartbeat skip because of shaky doubt.
To
love each other we were born,
Although
to others we had sworn
A
love they could not fathom,
A
life they could not cherish.
Our
God has blessed our marriage,
For
in word and flesh He hath said,
We
are the salt of the earth
And Love is stronger than even death.
