I Saw A Wish Caress the Sky
Sometimes
the fairgrounds are quiet and you can hear the wind blow,
So
I walked where we walked and heard the distant sound of playing,
It
was the call of children one to another and the afternoon sun
Cast
a glow over the tents and grounds where we held hands before.
You
are somewhere in your pastels and they see you they who do
Smiling
and being gracious for your manners are so pleasing.
You
are kind to animals including me and children love you.
I
think I miss you when you are away. So I was out for a walk
Alone
and solaced by the tranquil breeze and a sky that called,
As
if I could take wings and sail to places where there are things
You
love like the sweet treats from foreign lands you share with me.
My
heart feels like a prism in the sun, and the rainbow feelings become
Songs
on my lips like you see me do impromptu in the city,
In
the cozy spaces where we spend hours or in the shops when you
Say
to me I must be crazy to be making such sounds in public.
But
I love to sing, and so, alone in this empty place it feels good
To
think of how happy I am to know your love is mine and soon,
I
will be with you again and enjoy your gracious presence. Oh
Tut
tut, I jot you a love note but forget it in a book still you forgive me,
So
thank you for all you do and who you are and what I am is now
Just
happy and I would love to say to he who I was when so bad
As
to think life was only for me and the art of living was unknown,
That
to find happiness one should go out some night and walk
Beneath
the stars and in the heavens find a friend, like I call
The
Big Dipper, whom I still see now and then, and when
I see my old friend there are so many dreams to recall.
Well
for years I kept the vision of you and one time a star
Streaked
across the heavens as I walked voicing mad questions,
Seeking
quick answers of perhaps only the wind but it was bright
And
it touched the Northeastern sky like lightning or a caress so I
Made
a wish that I would find you and left it at that and went home.
Well
so then she came one night beneath the sky and I kissed her.
But
she would not believe and time told me it was not she.
Then
lives, cities, colors and years passed like a caravan.
It
was a circus time of change and fun. I laughed with you then.
At
silent evening with nothing but whispers I held you really tight
One
night and in the splendid skies I suddenly saw the light.
