Love’s Precious Hours

Come move beside me as I wander through the hills,

Come sit bayside with me in the placid storm,

There are so many wonders in the moon and the wind.

Kissing you I find pockets of dreams we let go like doves

Will in summer fly scattered like clouds.

Remember forever the day we touched the rainbow’s end,

And smile for you know we also found treasure,

Folded like crumpled paper by the roadside

While time seemed to toll us by the mile.

In quiet hours by castle windows, my bejeweled

Cup of thoughts touches the rim of days when

I wandered hungry and felt forgotten by a friend.

Oh God.

Still your words and touch came and the morning rose

Splendid as a long awaited ship at harbor.

So do journeys tend to be for one who waits by the water.

From parched dunes then we watch rolling waves caress

The shore by day and then the moon’s iridescence

In the amethyst night touches the waves’ luminescence

As gently fragmented reflections reveal their pearly essence.

The fortunes of man led us to this blessed hour when bread

And wine are within reach again and now I look across

To where the couples holding hands vows seem to renew,

Praying for love’s honeyed hours like I share with you.
