The Poet’s Diary
The poet’s diary has known the rage
The spirit splatters on the page.
In unpolished lines of unpublished rhymes
He’s demolished to tatters the fetters of times
And ages when sages to foolish words were confined
Ah, words!
These flightless tools which scholarly fools
Have chosen to chisel the wind with rules.
Yet the poet and the dreamer and you and I know.
Do we not know?
That the diamond crystals of the snow
Never on raging fires fell.
And the living waters that in Love’s river flow
Will not be confined by any well.
