Song of Delight
For Mary, sweet beautiful Mary, whom I
love above all women I have ever loved.. or could love
Your strawberry kisses are candy
in winter
While your crystal laugh echoes over candles;
I speak to you of evening sunsets and colors
Like you carry on your subtly scented scarves.
Clinking glasses in the night ring like silver
And the river café's outside heaters sizzle softly.
Yet come the pale dawn the phoenix sun rises.
He glides amidst clouds, bright as love
Encircling the bosom of my beloved aglow.
At the first light I kiss you and awaken your love
Feeling us reach for eternity for we are one light.
Be one water with me as we rage around the world
Our spirits on the winds of the times dance madly.
Softly I kiss you and warm is my embrace. You
Yield your golden sublime essence again.
I am like the shades of sand dunes by moonlight,
Awaiting the spark of dawn in your eyes, oh you
In your gemlike eyes I found myself in time to
Love the way you see me see you too.
I am a kaleidoscope of love-filled moments,
I am a tapestry of multicolored threads and you
Touch me with a magic that makes me fly.
You walk on ivory moonlit pillars but like jade
Is your smooth kiss. Oh! Diana in midheaven,
You and she alone hear my song of delight.
I care not about the cities we wear, give me a spot
On which to kiss you. I care not about the weather
Give me a large coat collar to shield your cheeks
As I kiss you in the glorious light of day. My hands
Find your touch in hidden places and comes dusk
When we seek warmth by candles and the light
Shines brightly for hours. I kiss you till morning.
