Well hello fellow web surfers, And you who have clicked on the campfire scene in my poetry website. (If you came in the side door you can click above to find that page). Now while the others are in the literary section we can sit a spell here and have a little talk about streaming media. Here it'll be me singing with accompaniment or solo voice with my old trusty guitar. It is easy to hear the music so long as you have a player! No player? Wanna player? I will tell you here how to get two!!! Now tell me you like that : ) Now almost everyone already has the Windows 98 Media Player, and I do mean the latest one available from Microsoft. Its a free player and you can download it from the Microsoft website by clicking here and then looking for it. The older windows media player that first came out with Windows 95 and Windows 98 might not work, but you can update for free at the link I just gave you. The new Version 6.4 can even handle MP3. Others prefer the  RealPlayer. This is a player put out by a company that wants to sell you a player but gives you one to use for free with limited features just so you can get to liking them. You can get this one from their place for free also by going to their website. Again, the first Realplayer put out by them uses a different format and will not work for this type of streaming media. Click here to get the update. Just be careful to get the free player unless you want to shell out some bucks for the other one.

Streaming media is still a fairly new thing. The idea is to have a song or sound (or video) on your website and be able to share it with the world without everybody having to download a ton of data, which would take forever and most people just will not do that because of the time involved. So what then? Well we live in changing times. Its possible to do it now. I present the material here in both formats. In some instances, depending on your system settings, you may experience a brief download period before you can hear the music play, but if your setup is recent and your components updated then you should be able to hear it as streaming media within seconds after you click a song title. Some say the windows media player does a quicker job, and some say the other one does. I don't care which one wins, as long as you get at least one : )
